Triple Frame
This tutorial was written using PSP7, but can probably be done in earlier versions with a few adjustments.
** Remember to save your work often! **
1. Open a transparent image 350 x 400. Set your foreground to a medium color (I'm using #8083BA). Set your background to a lighter shade of your foreground color (I'm using #CFD0E5). Now set your foreground to Gradient and choose the #1 Foreground/Background gradient as shown in the images below:
2. Fill your image with your gradient.
3. Go to Effects - Noise - Add 3% Uniform.
4. Go to Selections - Select All. Then Selections - Modify - Contract by 12. Then Selections - Invert.
5. Change your foreground back to Solid and make the color a darker shade of the one your were using (I'm using #575C9D). Fill the border selection with the darker color. Invert again. Go to Selections - Float. Go to Effects - 3D Effects - Cutout and use these settings:
Color Black
Opacity 45
Blur 10
Vertical and Horizontal 2.
6. Repeat the Cutout changing the Vertical and Horizontal to -2.
7. Selections - Invert. Go to Effects - 3D Effects - Inner Bevel and use these settings:
8. Selections - Select None.
** NOTE ** You can use your own shapes on the next steps if you would like; this is just to show you the basics of how to do this.
9. Add a new Raster Layer (all layers will be Raster layers) and name it "frame 1". Using your Selection Tool set to Rectangle and Anti-alias checked, draw a rectangle from the coordinates 65,65 to 285,175. Fill with the dark color you used on the border. Keep selected.
10. Go to Selections - Modify - Contract by 8. Hit Delete on your Keyboard. You will see your background color now. Click on Layer 1 to make it active and hit Delete again. Selections - Select None.
11. Click on your Frame 1 layer to make it active. Go to Selections - Select All, then Selections - Float. Add the same Inner Bevel as before. Selections - Select None. Go to Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow and use these settings:
Color Black
Opacity 50
Blur 5
Vertical and Horizontal 0.
12. Add a new layer and name it "frame 2". Set your Selection Tool to Circle and draw from 100,275 to 165,340. Repeat steps #8 and #9.
13. Add another layer and name it "frame 3". Draw another shape and follow steps #8 and #9. (I used Rounded Rectangle and drew from 190,210 to 310,340). Layers - Merge - Merge Visible.
14. Select one of your images that you want to add to the frame. Go to Edit - Copy.
15. Click back on your frame image. Using your Magic Wand , Tolerence and Feather set to 0 and Sample Merged UNchecked, click inside one of the openings. Go to Selections - Modify - Expand by 5. Then go to Edit - Paste Into Selection. Go to Selections - Float and add the following Cutout:
Color Black
Opacity 45
Blur 10
Vertical and Horizontal 2.
16. Selections - Select None. Repeat for the remaining openings.
17. Add a new layer. Click on your Text Tool and set it as below:
18. While selected, add the Inner Bevel we used before to the font. Selections - Select None. Add the same Drop Shadow we used before. Move the font to the upper left corner using your Mover Tool .
19. Once you have it in place, go to Layers - Duplicate, then Image - Mirror. Layers - Duplicate, then Image - Flip. Layers - Duplicate, then Image - Mirror. nbsp;Layers - Merge - Merge All (Flatten) and you're done.
This one was done using a Blade Pro preset instead of solid borders and brushes instead of dingbats. Just use your imagination.....
