Making Custom Brushes

1. Open the image or tube you will be using.  The image must be no larger than 255 x 255, so resize your image if necessary.  Also note that images with a solid color background work best.

I am using this cute little angel; notice that it has a solid white background.  If you would like to use this one, right click and save to your computer

2. Click on your magic wand with these settings:

3. Click on the background (the white area).  Go to Selections - Invert.

4. Now select your paint brush

5. On your Tool Options box, click on the paint brush in the top right corner and click Custom.

6. The following box will open.  Browse to your brushes folder.

7. Click on Create and your new custom brush will appear.

Your brush is now ready to be used.  Remember that custom brushes cannot be resized in PSP 6, but can be in PSP 7.

*** NOTE ***

Paint Shop Pro will automatically name new brushes "Ubrush.Jbr".

You can rename your brush by browsing to the folder containing your new brush.  Right click on the Ubrush.Jbr to rename it.  Remember to add the .jbr extension or PSP will not be able to find your brush.
