Glitter Mask Frame

This tutorial was written using PSP7, but can probably be done in earlier versions with a few adjustments.

** Remember to save your work often! **

1. Open the image you wish to frame.  The image I am using is called "Moonlight Rendezvous" by Kayomi.  To see more of these beautiful animals, visit ArtyCat Studio HERE.

2. Set your background to White and your foreground to a medium color from your image.  Now set your foreground to texture and select the jd-glitterfill (scale 100 - angle 0).

3. Add a new Raster Layer and flood fill with white.

4. Go to Masks - Load from Disk.  Browse to your masks folder and choose "jd-mask97.msk".  Now Selections - From Mask.  Now Masks - Delete.  Click Yes in the box that pops up about merging the mask.

5. Flood fill the selection with the glitterfill.  Selections - Select None.   Go to Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow and use these settings:

Color Black
Opacity 100
Blur 20
Vertical and Horizontal 0.

6. Layers - Merge - Merge All (Flatten).  This is what you should have so far:

7. Make sure your background color is set to White.  Go to Image - Add - Borders.  Make sure Symmetric is checked and 8 is in all of the boxes.  Click OK.  Using your magic wand , Tolerence and Feather set to 0 and Sample Merged UNchecked, click on the new border.  Fill with the glitterfill.  Selections - Select None.

8. Go to Effects - Plug-in Filters - NVR BorderMania - Frame 2 and use these settings:

Border Width 8
Frame Width 8
Highlight Intensity 110
Shadow Intensity 130
Notch Corners checked

9. Go to Selections - Select All.  Then Selections - Modify - Contract by 1.  Then Image - Crop to Selection.

10. Reverse your colors in your color pallette so that your background is now the color you chose from your image.  Add a border of 14px.

11. Select the new border with your Magic Wand.  Go to Effects - Plug-in Filters - Filter Factory Gallery A - Pool Shadow.  Leave the default settings and click OK.  Keep selected.

12. Go to Effects - 3D Effects - Inner Bevel and use the Pillow preset from the drop-down list.  Selections - Select None.

13. Make White your background color again.  Add another border of 8px.  Select the border with your Magic Wand and fill with the glitterfill.  Apply the same NVR Bordermania as before.  Selections - Select All; Selections - Modify - Contract by 1; Image - Crop to Selections.  This is what you should have at this point:

14. Add a new layer and flood fill with White.  Go to Masks - Load from Disk.  Choose "jd-mask97.msk" again.  Selections - From Mask; Masks - Delete.  Click Yes in the box that pops up about merging the mask.

15. Flood fill the selection with the glitterfill.  Selections - Select None.   Add the same Drop Shadow that we used before.  Layers - Merge - Merge All (Flatten).  Resize and Sharpen if necessary.

A very special Thank You to Suz for testing this tutorial for me :-)
