Easter Egg

This tutorial was written using PSP7, but can probably be done in earlier versions with a few adjustments.

** Remember to save your work often! **

1. Open a transparent image 400 x 400.  Set your Foreground and Background colors to White.  With your Preset Shapes Tool set to Ellipse, Antialias and Create as Vector both checked, draw a circle from coordinates 100,50 to 300,350 .

2. Click on your Object Selector Tool .  Place your cursor on the top left node, hold down your Control (Ctrl) key and push the node in a little to make the top of the egg narrow.

3. Now place your cursor on the bottom left node, hold down the Ctrl key and pull the node out a little to make the bottom wider.

4. Go to Selections - From Vector Object, then to Layers - Convert to Raster Layer.  You should now have "marching ants" around just your egg.

5. Change your foreground to Gradient .  Click where indicated in the first image below to open your Gradient Options Box.  Click where indicatd in the second image and find the rainbow gradient (or one of your choice).  You can use the settings that I used, or adjust to your liking.

6. Flood Fill your egg with the gradient.  Keep selected.

7. Selections - Invert.  Go to Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow and use these settings:

Color Black
Opacity 50
Blur 75
Vertical and Horizontal 0.

8. Repeat the Drop Shadow.  Keep selected and go to Selections - Modify - Expand by 1.  Hit Delete on your Keyboard.  Invert and keep selected.

9. Add a new Raster Layer.  With your foreground set to White, set up your paintbrush with these settings:

10. Draw 2 lines as shown:

11. Add a Gaussian Blur of 15 (Effects - Blur - Gaussian Blur).  Selections - Select None, then Layers - Merge - Merge Visible.  At this point you can export as a tube (File - Export - Picture Tube) or save in psp format for later use.  Just use your imagination; the decorating possibilities are endless......
