Double Gold Frame
This tutorial was written using PSP7, but can probably be done in earlier versions with a few adjustments.
** Remember to save your work often! **
1. Open a new transparent image 300 x 350. Set your foreground to texture and select the goldfill1 pattern (scale 100 - angle 0).
2. Double click on your Selection Tool Icon and use these settings:
3. Flood fill the selection with the goldfill. Go to Selections - Modify - Contract by 6. Hit Delete on your Keyboard. Keep selected. This is what you should have (this one has been resized to save loading time):
4. Go to Selections - Modify - Contract by 16. Flood fill again with the same goldfill. Selections - Modify - Contract by 6 and Delete. Go to Selections - Select None and you should have this:
5. Double click on your Selection Tool Icon and just click OK to use the same settings again. You should now have marching ants around the outside gold frame. Click once inside the selection to select both of the frames. Add the following Inner Bevel then Selections - Select None.
6. Go to Edit - Copy then Edit - Paste as New Selection.
Move the new selection down and to the right and line up the bottom right corner. Your coordinates at the bottom of your screen should show 300,350. Click to place the selection and Selections - Select None.
7. Using your Magic Wand with Tolerence and Feather set to 0 and Sample Merged UNchecked, hold down your Shift key and select the areas indicated by the arrows below:
8. Change to the goldfill2 pattern and fill the selections. Selections - Select None.
9. You can now save as a picture frame. Go to File - Save As and browse to your PSP Frames folder. Remember when you name your frame, you will need to add the .pfr extension (example: "jd-double gold.pfr"). Or you may prefer to export as a tube (File - Export - Picture Tube), or save in psp format.
10. To add an image as in the example above, use your magic wand and select the center transparent area. Choose the image you want in the frame. Go to Edit - Copy. Go back to your frame and Edit - Paste into Selection. Selections - Select None. Now you can either select all of the remaining transparent areas and fill with a color, or just copy and paste the image onto a background strip to use as stationery. Here is how it looks as stationery.
