Easter Basket
This tutorial was written using PSP7, but can probably be done in earlier versions with a few adjustments.
** Remember to save your work often! **
1. Open a transparent image 400 x 400. Add a new Raster Layer (all layers will be Raster layers) and name it "basket". Load the "jd-basket" selection (Selections - Load from Disk). Flood fill with #C79F58. Keep selected.
2. Go to Effects - Texture Effects - Weave and use these settings:
Gap Size 3
Width 10
Opacity 100
Weave Color #926D32
Gap Color #926D32
Fill Gaps checked
3. Go to Selections - Float. Then to Effects - 3D Effects - Cutout and use these settings:
Color #926D32
Opacity 78
Blur 28.8
Vertical and Horizontal 12.
4. Repeat the Cutout changing the Vertical and Horizontal to -12. Selections - Select None.
5. Add a new layer and name it "grass". Load the "jd-grass" selection. Using the Lawn tube that came with PSP, scale set to 100%, fill the selection. Keep selected.
6. Go to Effects - Texture Effects - Texture and choose the Marsh.bmp (it is number 42 on mine, but may be different on yours). Use these settings:
7. Selections - Select None.
8. Add a new layer and name it "rim". Load the "jd-rim" selection and fill with #C79F58. Add the same Weave as before. Go to Selections - Invert; then Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow with these settings:
Color Black
Opacity 50
Blur 7.4
Vertical and Horizontal 0.
9. Invert and apply the same Drop Shadow. Selections - Select None.
10. Add a new layer and name it "handle". Load the "jd-handle" selection and fill with #C79F58. Apply the Weave. Invert and apply the same Drop Shadow. Selections - Select None.
11. Add a new layer. Using the Grass Blades tube that came with PSP, scale set to 15%, place some sprigs of grass around like in the image below. Don't worry about them being outside of the basket; we will fix that.
12. Add a new layer and arrange your eggs the way you want them. Let the ones in front be below the rim so that they will look like they are inside the basket when we're finished. You can add a Drop Shadow to the eggs if you would like.
13. Add a new layer. Using the Grass Blades tube, add a few sprigs of grass on top of the eggs.
14. On your layer pallette, hide the basket, grass, rim and handle layers. To do this, click the glasses on each layer; a red X will appear over the glasses. Click on one of the other layers and go to Layers - Merge - Merge Visible to merge the egg and two grass layers.
15. Make sure you are on your Merged Layer and load the "jd-grass" selection again. Selections - Modify - Contract by 3. Selections - Invert. Using your Eraser with the settings below, erase the part indicated in the second image below. Selections - Select None.
16. Merge all layers Visible and you basket is ready. I added a bow to the top of mine.
